INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
1.1
Background
Student is one of the
all-important factor. We realize that students who enter higher education come
from very different backgrounds. As one of the main elements in the teaching,
the students set foot in college with English language skills are very
different from one another. They are studying in high school equipped with the
means, facilities, human resources and adequate methods tend to have a better
mastery of reading.
The motivation behind
this student seems to vary. There is when learning English in high school
really realize the close connection with the development of science reading
mastery. Not infrequently those who see English as a difficult subject and then
tend to stay away. There are also groups who are less wise to realize that even
if they will pursue scientific disciplines outside of English they can not
escape the need to read books in English in order to improve and develop this
knowledge. Very difficult to understand is the view that English is not our language,
and completed studies in college can be done without having to read books in
English. In short, students as one of the main elements in a teaching
background is one of the success or failure of reading a text book in college.
In the teaching of
English is known to many kinds of methods. Several methods such as direct
method, functional method, grammar translation method ever popular. Lately, a
method known to the person who called Communicative Method which is considered
more appropriate to wear. Patterns are applied to teaching English in high
school is not currently focused on the mastery of reading training. In high
school, in general, the exercises focused on completing the job matters of
grammar, memorize and create short dialogues and answer the questions the
teacher in the English language.

DISCUSSION
DISCUSSION
2.1 How
to Learn
English Effectively
The
first thing you must understand in learning
English is the fact that English
is a foreign language for us people of Indonesia. Because
it's not a lot of
people who use it
to communicate and the results are rarely spoken
since then the brain will find it hard to get
used to English, so we will be hard to
learn but still in
the record. That is, if we
want to learn English is not impossible that you can easily master the English language.
Here are some strategies that can help us improve the ability to speak English effectively.
Here are some strategies that can help us improve the ability to speak English effectively.
1. Remember
that learning a language is a gradual process, not a process
that occurs in 1 × 24 hours.
2. Define your learning objectives. What do you want to learn and why you need to learn it?
3. Make learning
a habit. Get used
to learn new things every day. Better to learn little
by little gradually, rather than two hours a
week to study hard.
4. Try reading the English text, be it newspapers, magazines,
or any text, or
watch movies or listen to English news. Do this every
day or as often
as possible.
5. Choose a good teaching material. However, you still
need to learn to read, grammar (grammar), writing, speaking and listening, as a whole-language skills.
6. Make the process of
learning constantly. If you are studying
English for 10 minutes every day, the English
will satisfy your
brain's memory. If you study once a week,
do not expect the language to meet the brain's memory.
7. Vary your learning process. Should do different things every day
in order to assist the learning process of
four language skills (read, write,
see, speak). Do not become fixated on one aspect only.
8. Find a friend to learn. Learning
a language in congregation is more fun and motivating double.
9. Choose the appropriate study materials with topics you're
interested. This will make your learning
process becomes more enjoyable,
fun, making it more effective.
10. Connect your
grammar knowledge with everyday use.
Learning the grammar of a language will not
automatically make you able to use the
language. Actively practice
what has been learned.
11. Open your mouth! Understand a language does not automatically
mean your mouth will
speak in that language. Try to speak in English with a loud voice. Initially might sound strange,
but this is very effective for your learning
process.
12. Be patient
with yourself. Remember that learning is a
process. It takes time and
continuity. You are not the computer that has a button
on and off.
13. Try to communicate in English. Master the grammar is
good. But being able to
communicate orally and in writing with others in English, it's nicer and more
fun.
14. Take advantage of
the Internet! Internet is a means of learning English is a complete exceptional,
fun, and accessible.
15. "READING" get used to reading
what you usually
like
16. "LISTENING" to hear the song, conversational
English, speech, etc.
17. "SPEAKING" talk with the exercise, train pungacapan said.
18. "WRITING" wrote the MIND-mapping
method or CLUSTERING
to understand first-langkh step process
or in writing.
2.2 Causes Difficulties
Learning English
Many
say that learning English
is not difficult, some are told to learn English very,
very and extremely
difficult. Maybe it
depends on individual motivation, or it could
be because we do not have the talent to
be bilingual or
multilingual, it could be. But the
flavor-taste learning
English is not as difficult
as imagined, but not easy as expected.
Here are the factors that cause difficulty learning English as follows:
Here are the factors that cause difficulty learning English as follows:
1. It's hard to remember the words.
Sometimes
just a word that we
get so easily vanish from our minds. Factornya is probably one of
our concentration and memorization strength
"we are getting
older and older"
2.
Different
pronunciation of the text
We
are very familiar with the pronunciation as written. This we never ask our teachers in the
Aussie, he was
too confused to
answer. He can only say 'consult to your
dictionary'. Apparently there are no rules that say how very standard English words
were. Everything happened
the way it is. Language is arbitrary.
3.
Sound
the same but different words were
This
makes us doubt, where
the words mentioned by the speaker, the
sound of which is mentioned is probably different
from what we understand, misalanya
too, to and
two; whether and
weather; hear and
here; buy and by;
there and Their; witch
and the which; threw
and through. This
will make us misunderstand what
the speaker meant.
4.
Can
not distinguish a noun with a verb or another.
For
example, the smoke can be a noun, can
also be a verb.
For example Smoke on the water (noun - quoted from diparpel,
which means smoke) but if I smoke everyday (ready-verb, and
its meaning is another, smoking), while smoking his own words in the
English language that cigarette.
So the funny
thing is, I have students who make
the sentence I am
instead of everyday
cigarette I smoke
everyday.
There is another example, the accountant at the music store records1 records2 of the records3. (1) Record, (2) Notes / transaction, (3) tapes / recordings.
There is another example, the accountant at the music store records1 records2 of the records3. (1) Record, (2) Notes / transaction, (3) tapes / recordings.
5. Speak fluently but can not write
because they do not know or forgot.
Do
not be surprised if there is a very fluent
in English counting 1-10 is very fluent
and smooth, but
just told to write the words pake. Perhaps
the true cuman simple
one and a few
other numbers. That's
for those who are still beginners. But that
was intermediate to
advanced level was also had the same problem such as questionnaires and
entrepreneurship words in English and others.
6. The same
words often have other
meanings are primarily used in a
particular field.
For
those who are still at the beginner
level first patient
would be asked for
help translating from English to Indonesia
or vice versa, because
normally we would
encounter many difficulties,
especially when met with words that seem unusual,
but when translated sentence context ndak
connect with others. These areas need
basic knowledge to
be translated. For example, for
the field of accounting have said marketable
securities, if not
careful can-can translate into
the word SECURITY MARKET, but the
translation is Securities.
Just like the case of number 3: The accountant
at the music
store records1 records2 of the records3.
Notes, records /
transactions, cassette / tape.
7. Pronunciation of
the letters
in words are confusing.
I think there is no
standard in English how to pronounce the letters attached to certain words,
such as the letter U, the word is read PUT / u / as usual, but if the word CUT
changed again saying so / a /, whereas the only P and C. diff confuse you?
There is another example, the letter O in the word BOOK sounds / u / but the
word BLOOD berbuny / a /, the word WOMEN sound / i /. Adalagi sound / f / could
have on words containing the letter F such as FISH, but can the letters in the
word enough GH, PH to the letter of the word PHASE and so on, and so on.
8. Can
not read the existing pengucapkan symbol symbol-dictionary dikamus advance.
At the advanced level
dictionaries the pronunciation of each word is given. This is very useful for
us to know how to pronounce a word, including an emphasis on certain syllables.
The problem is that we are still at the beginner level, or who are already at
an advanced level, if we can not read the symbol symbol is also useless.
9. Find
a word in the dictionary to make it one sentence of English usage in the
English context (relying too much on the dictionary).
When making a few
sentences in English, we often tripped up by words that we do not know what the
English language, then we directly go to the dictionary and look for those
words and we input into our sentences. We feel that we have very perfect
sentence. But apparently when it is read by the teacher, we sentence containing
the word wrong word. For example, to hear the words we use should HEAR the word
we use is LISTENT TO or vice versa there are also other words of similar words
such as word meanings in our language such as SEE, LOOK, and WATCH. Which is
often a lot of wrong was when I did my homework translate the word DAILY. Many
of the meterjemahkan, especially beginners, with the sentence I WORK MY
HOMEWORK. Which should I DO MY HOMEWORK.
10. There is another
irregular verbs.
This
is what makes us not uniform in a
sentence. The problem is that our
language has no irregular verbs. If we want to say I EAT, no matter whether
the time is now, past,
or has occurred, or
routines. The most we add aja, said
IS, YESTERDAY /
DAY WAS, IS,
and ALWAYS.
11. The change from
singular to plural irregular
Almost
equal to the number 9. Usually when to make
words plural just add-s behind these words, BOOK
- BOOKS etc.
But can not for the CHILD (to children),
MAN (to men),
WOMEN (to women),
MOUSE (to mice)
and some other
words.
12. There was a
sound in the English language diucapakan difficult because
there is no sound in our language.
Fortunately
the sounds that are not in the sounds of language are limited in number, such as sound-on-th and THINK THAT word,
but even so many
of us who can not pronounce it correctly a
lot of replacing it with the sound / t / by combining it with the
sound / s /
to think and
use words /
d / to word that. But for
a fluent Arabic
he had no trouble with the sound of
th in the same
words with sound
THINK ث and
th sounds in
the same words with
sound THAT ذ.
If in a given
symbol english dictionary
θ ð. There are
also other, sometimes we are a bit lazy
to pronounce the
sound / v /
and often replace
it with the sound / f /.
13. There are
some American English
British English, Australian
English is no
longer among the New
York, London, and
Sydney ejaanya dialect
was different and
the writing is slightly different.
There are people who prefer the English U.S.,
there is also a style like the UK, and
some are like the Aussie style. It
depends.
14. Have to memorize a lot of tense
a lot of rules
More
tenses - tenses
again. Again more tenses. If there are
16 tenses ndak
wrong. Said if
people want to speak
fluent English should
be fluent tenses his tenses are tenses. Mumet indeed.
Try banyangkan if
we could memorize all the tenses's head
outside but could not do as well as the
communication champion. Yes, it is better
than no good
at all. Often, we
understand tenses but does not know
which one to dipake tenses when they want to express an idea tau want to make a sentence.
15. Want to be afraid of speaking English.
It
is a psychological problem I guess, there
are actually English
is OK but not at all for fear of any
communication and fear of ridicule, finally could not talk at all. There is a willingness
to try to practice
with the teacher or
the English language
that can be mistaken for someone else pretending to be afraid so Bule.
2.3 How
to Overcome
Difficulties Learning English
1. Before opening the
dictionary, first try to guess what was the
meaning of the word according to the context of the sentence. In addition to the dictionary is not preoccupied
by this way
can also help strengthen our memory
Try to make a simple sentence (oral and written) of the words that we just get it.
Try to make a simple sentence (oral and written) of the words that we just get it.
2. In addition to
the dictionary, watching movies from DVD (the
original) can help,
as long as you
set them subtitled
in English as well, and it may also be secondary
subtitle set in
the Indonesian language, so there are two subtitle (subtitle secondary
is only available if we watch a movie DVD's
of the computer). Besides English lyric
songs can also be helpful. If you frequently connect to
the internet there is software that can
directly display the lyric in the song title
as long as winamp and artistnya written
correctly (in our
mp3 file). It
can be downloaded.
3.
To
be able to understand the context in question does
not rhyme be a problem for us. Try to understand
the conversation context is a word for word but the whole
context that the
speaker was talking about.
4. If you make a sentence in
Microsoft Word, the
computer will be a bit much
to help our English. His first language
set to English
(U.S.) or English
(UK) and activate the spelling checker in the
Option. If it is completed, any one English word
that there will be a red line
on the word, right
click your computer
will usually give the right word choice. Besides it can also search for synonyms of English
words, the same way the word is right-click and then point the cursor to the Synonym.
5. Ask the person who
is fluent, but if
it is difficult to see there are other ways to use technology.
Try to visit www.answers.com we can write down the words,
the website provides the meaning of the words but the translation or
definition in English, but it is the website also provides audio pronunciation aja
click its picture
loudspeaker.
6. Also had to learn the signs
of time or tensesnya
English. And are
forced to understand the changes
that are irregular.
7. For proficient English, tenses
are very necessary, but do not become something
that inhibits our spirit. In the normal
communication is not all tenses should
be involved. So keep
speaking, wrong tenses
are not a problem. Perhaps the most commonly
used tenses and as a basis for control of the other tenses there
are about five tenses are the Present Tense, Present Continuous
Tense, Simple Past, Present Perfect Tense,
Future Tense and
Simpe. Other tenses
are actually a combination of tenses are tenses. For example, Past
Continuous is the union of Tense and Present
Continuous Simple Past, and so does the other
tenses combined.
8. With the
first practice we
can practice speaking English that we have learned, we both know our shortcomings so as
to ideas for improv, train the
tongue let me not speak English stiff, and
train our listening.

3.1 Conclusion
How to Learn
English Effectively can be done by remembering that the process of learning
a language is a
gradual process. Make learning a habit. Get used to
learn new things every day. Better to learn bit
by bit a continuous, rather than
two hours a week to
study hard.
The
factors causing difficulties in learning English language
support are difficult to remember
the words, pronunciation is different from
writing, sound the
same but it turned out different
words, eloquent to
say but can not write because they do not know or forget and others.
How to overcome
difficulties learning English actually comes from a
willingness to know and want to learn. Without based on curiosity and without
any motivation to learn we would be hard
to learn English.
3.2 Advice
3.2 Advice
In the opinion
of our group, we
know that this country adalan country Indonesia.
Before we learn
